This review will focus on one of the smallest GEPON subscriber terminals on the market - ONU 4A FORA, model NA-1001D. The device has already gained popularity among the owners of GEPON head stations from BDCOM due to its good compatibility and stable operation, but we still consider it important to "review" the device as a whole. The appearance of the device. 4A FORA NA-1001D is a product born out of many years of experience gained by IC-Line in the course of work in the telecommunications equipment market. Not the least role in the creation of the device was played by the recommendations of our clients - existing Internet Service Providers. The NA-1001D is a completely domestic product from the point of view of the "intellectual" component: the development of the case and the printed circuit board, as well as the software, was carried out by IC-Line engineers. In our opinion, even a “simple” device should look, if not solid, then at least unusual, and the dimensions of a modern subscriber terminal (be it a DOCIS modem, media converter, ONU or Wi-Fi access point) should be as compact as possible. The NA-1001D is exactly what we imagined it to be: compact, stylish, stable and inexpensive. The dimensions of the device 69mm * 62mm * 28mm are still amazing: we made something really miniature, and even with a good heat sink (the slots around the case perimeter dissipate heat well enough from the main elements placed on the board)! The weight of the device turned out to be so insignificant (only 60 grams) that ONU stays on a vertical surface even on double-sided tape! Most likely, such a solution will not be in demand by users, because for these purposes we have provided universal fasteners, but you can never write off double-sided tape! The body color is matte black (our favorite), it will perfectly fit into any subscriber's interior. For this model, as well as for all FORA products, an individual minimalistic (also dearly loved by us) plastic packaging was developed, containing the NA-1001D itself and a 5V DC 1A power supply for it. Separately, it should be noted that the characteristics of the power supply are not standard for such devices: 5V DC, 1A. To make it more difficult to confuse when connecting, we made a "thin power jack" that cannot be confused. Additionally, the power port is marked with the inscription "5V DC". There are four indicators in total: Power, PON Active, PON Los and LAN Active. No buttons are provided - the device works stably 24/7. The well-known, stable (and for this dearly loved by many) SoC Marvell Avanta 88F6601 with a DDR3 RAM bank from Nanya has become the "heart" and "brain" and other vital organs. NA-1001D works only in “Bridge” mode - many simply do not require more from the budget segment of subscriber GEPON terminals.
